Stephen G. Abel

Stephen (Steve) George Abel died unexpectedly and peacefully at the Buckingham Valley Rehabilitation Center on Thursday, October 22, 2015 with his daughter Linda at his side. Steve turned 91 on March 2, 2015. Steve was the youngest of six children born to August and Catherine Abel of Lansford, PA. In March 1955, Steve and Antoinette, his wife of 59 years, moved into the home that he built. He resided in his Morrisville home until May of this year.Steve was a devoted husband and loving father who worked hard and sacrificed much to ensure the welfare of his family. Prior to his retirement in 1984, he was employed as a blacksmith with U.S. Steel for 30 years. He and his wife were especially committed to the education of their son and daughter, an opportunity they did not have.Steve was a humble man who rose from poverty to live a comfortable retirement. A man of a deep and abiding faith, Steve attended Holy Trinity Catholic Church, where he served as an usher. An avid camper, gardener, hunter, and fisherman, these hobbies gave him a great sense of joy and satisfaction. He had many fond memories of the trips he took in his motorhome exploring our great country from coast to coast.Steve is survived by his son, Stephen Gary; daughter, Linda; son-in-law, Scott; and grandchildren, Christopher and Jennifer. A memorial mass will begin at 11 AM on November 7, 2015 at the Holy Trinity Church, 201 North Pennsylvania Avenue, Morrisville, Pa. 19067. Steve's inurnment will follow at the parish cemetery. Friends may call the morning of the mass from 10-11 AM at Holy Trinity Church In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Holy Trinity Church at the address above.
