Steven Lane Sloca, age 78 of Washington Crossing, PA passed away in his home on April 1, 2023.
Born in Plainfield, NJ, Steven settled in Washington Crossing after previously living in Ithaca, NY; Annville, PA; Bethany, WV; Waynesburg, PA; Fairfield, IA; and Los Angeles CA. He attended Dartmouth University in Hanover, NH (Class of ‘66) and then Yale Law School (Class of ‘69). He was a proud US Army Veteran, serving as a first lieutenant then captain from 1970 until 1973 during the Vietnam War. Upon his return, he worked as an attorney for Irell and Manella for several decades until retirement.
Born to the late Charles and Maureen (Rushmore) Sloca, he is survived by his son, Andrew Sloca, his wife Christy Dubay-Sloca and two grand-daughters, Ellie and Abigail of Holden, MA. He was also predeceased by his ex-wife Kim (Hoang) Sloca and son Lee. Steven is also survived by his step-mother Joan (Rosenberry) Sloca and his eight siblings: Sue, Molly, Martha, Amelia, Angela, John, Rebecca, and Anna along with numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
Steven was heavily involved in the Bucks County Democratic Committee through his affiliation with the Upper Makefield Democrats. He occasionally wrote opinion pieces for the Bucks County Courier Times. He was an avid hockey fan and would spend hours watching every game he could. He was also a long-time baseball fan who raised his children to hate the Yankees. Most of all, however, he loved visiting with and spoiling his grandchildren while teasing his son about how his wife is too good for him.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend Steven’s memorial gathering, which will be held on May 1, 2023 from 11:30 AM to 12:30 PM at the J. Allen Hooper Funeral Chapel. Following the gathering will be military honors and his committal at the Washington Crossing National Cemetery at 1:30 PM.
