William G. Hill, Sr., age 88, of Levittown, PA, passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 17, 2018 at Chandler Hall Hospice, Newtown, PA. surrounded by his loving family. Born in Philadelphia, Mr. Hill lived in Haddonfield, NJ before moving to Levittown in 1952.
He was a graduate of Merchantville High School, NJ, where his future wife, Ruth, also attended. He proudly served in the U.S. Navy, and did tours of duty on the USS Midway and the USS Coral Sea aircraft carriers. Following his service, he became employed by Kaiser Steel, Bristol, PA. At age 65, he retired from SEPTA. William was a long time member of Emilie United Methodist Church in Levittown. He loved baseball and was an avid Phillies fan. He also enjoyed playing golf, as well as watching the pros play, reading and doing crossword puzzles. Mr. Hill especially loved spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Father of the late William G. Hill, Jr., he is survived by his lifelong sweetheart and wife of 67 years Ruth (Rice) Hill, five children and their spouses, Randy and Donna Hill of Bristol Twp., PA, Sharon and Nick Forte of Erwinna, PA, Beverly and Richard Hinman of Fairless Hills, PA, David and Fay Hill of San Diego, CA, and Rodney and April Hill of Yardley, PA. He also leaves to cherish his memory 16 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend his memorial service at 3 PM on Saturday, March 24, 2018 at the Emilie United Methodist Church, 7300 New Falls Rd., Levittown, PA 19055. The Rev. Dr. Michael Robert, Sr., Pastor, will officiate. His interment and committal service with military honors will take place at 10:30 AM on Monday, March 26, 2018 at Washington Crossing National Cemetery, 830 Highland Rd., Newtown, PA.
Friends are invited to call on Saturday from 2-3 PM at the church.
