William Edward Jefferson

William Edward Jefferson, age 78 of Poolesville, MD, passed away peacefully on Friday, January 15, 2021 in Hamilton Township, NJ.  Born in Washington, DC, and a graduate of the University of Maryland, Mr. Jefferson moved his young family to Poolesville, MD 46 years ago.

Prior to his retirement, William (“Bill” to his family, friends & colleagues) was employed as an IT Manager with Boeing/SAIC in Vienna, VA for 30 years.  Along with his wife Sandy, he enjoyed square and round dancing, and belonged to the Washington Area Square Dancers Cooperative (WASCA).  A loving and devoted husband, father, and grandfather, Bill loved to travel, visiting most of the nation's National Parks, going on cruises, and traveling to several foreign countries.  Additionally, Mr. Jefferson enjoyed playing softball and an occasional round of golf.

Son of the late Ernest Penfield and Gladys Amelia (Juenemann) Jefferson, he is survived by his loving wife Sandra Elaine (Martin) Jefferson, a daughter and son-in-law Diane and Jim Hilkene of Yardley, PA, a son and daughter-in-law Michael and Kristin Jefferson of Rancho Santa Margarita, CA, a sister Sandra Lewis of St. James City, FL, five grandchildren, Matthew and Andrew Hilkene, and Evan, Kate and Keaton Jefferson, and two nieces, Teri and Sheri.

He was loved by so many and will be missed by all who knew him.

A memorial service and burial in Maryland will be planned as current pandemic restrictions are lifted.
